Why did you choose the venue you chose?
“The mountains are so special to us and The Cliffs at Glassy is close to where Phil has been living the past couple of years for med school. As soon as we toured, it felt right for us. The views are stunning and the drive up to the chapel is so exciting. We also wanted to get married in a church so it was a perfect fit!”

Any other vendors you chose for a special reason?
“Some vendors were local and some were from home. We loved having a mix of vendors we already knew and new ones that were familiar with the venue!”

What was your favorite part of wedding planning?
“Phil’s answer is hands down the food and cake tastings. 🙂 One of my favorite parts was opening the RSVP’s that came in the mail each day – that was so fun! I also loved picking out our invitation suite and making them on Minted.”

What was your least favorite part of wedding planning?
“Planning from afar! Choosing a wedding venue 3 hours away made planning trickier than I first imagined but we got through it. :)”

Did you have a theme or “vibe” that guided your planning?
“We wanted our day to be elegant and timeless and we tried to stick to white, ivory and forest green. Originally we wanted a sit down dinner but are so glad our guest count was too high to do that because we ended up with a cocktail style reception that was absolutely perfect for the venue and our guests.”

What did you want your guest experience to be?
“We wanted guests to be a part of our special day. For our “ceremony activity” we did a reverse unity candle where all the guests lit a candle and passed the flame forward to our parents then finally to us. We also wanted them to see the part of South Carolina that we had grown to love while Phil is living there.”

What was your favorite moment of your wedding day?
“Walking out of the chapel as husband and wife to gorgeous mountains views and having our first moments together as we let it all sink in!”

What was your favorite personal detail or item on your wedding day?
“The reverse unity candle was a favorite for me. Also, having cheerwine at the reception because they don’t have it in SC!”

What was your favorite part of the décor on the wedding day?
“I loved our custom signage made by my college best friend and owner of Meriwether Designs. It was so special having her make all of our signs and she is incredibly talented! She made a sign with our vows that we placed on the mantle at the reception and we plan to hang it in our bedroom!”

What was your first dance song?
“Blessed by Thomas Rhett – We tried to find a song that had meaning to us. Dating for over 10 years, you’d think we would “have a song” but we really struggled to find the perfect fit. The week before the wedding, we were looking around and checked out Thomas Rhett’s new album and found Blessed. We really like that we picked a song that didn’t have any special meaning to us before the wedding  – it’s one of our favorites now!”
