Meet CME’s New Wedding Coordinator – Penn!

If you have been around Carly Marie Event’s lately, you have met our new Wedding Coordinator, Penn Broughton! I am so excited to have her as part of the team, and to see her shine as CME’s new wedding coordinator! Read below to get to know her…

Where did you go to school, and what was your major?
I went to East Carolina University and majored in Hospitality Management with a concentration in Events and Conventions.

What was your first job in the event world?
My dad owns an event planning business in Durham so I grew up helping him with events and fell in love with it! He put me to work at about 10 years old (haha!) so I learned a lot over the years. I was fortunate to travel to other countries with him, while also learning about the event planning industry. In college, I had an event planning internship at Chef and the Farmer in Kinston, North Carolina. I loved working under an amazing mentor who taught me things I still use today!

What do you like most about wedding planning/the wedding day?
I love seeing the Bride and Groom’s reaction to their dreams becoming a reality on their wedding day. When they see all the details, design, and beautiful ideas they envisioned come to life it is the best feeling! All that hard work really pays off.

What’s your favorite moment on wedding day?
The ceremony. I love seeing the groom’s reaction when the bride walks down the aisle and seeing the love they have for each other on their special day. I always tear up!

Favorite flower?
Hydrangeas!

Favorite food?
I love sushi, but can never say no to Italian.

What do you do during your down time?
I love to exercise and be outside, but I also love to curl up on the couch and read a good book to relax.

Traditional vs Modern?
I think I’m a little bit of both. I’m very traditional when it comes to certain things in life, but I definitely have a modern sense of style.

Glam vs Rustic?
Glam! Give me all the white and gold!
